A RESOLUTION1 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2 death of Hadley J. Castille.3 WHEREAS, it is with sincere regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4 Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of Hadley J. Castille, age5 seventy-nine, of Opelousas, Louisiana, who passed away on October 25, 2012; and 6 WHEREAS, Hadley was an award-winning musician and served as a cultural7 ambassador to the world for the Cajun community and Southwest Louisiana; and8 WHEREAS, Hadley, who created intoxicating blends of both the traditional and9 contemporary music, was one of the finest exponents of authentic south Louisiana Cajun10 fiddle music, captivating and electrifying audiences worldwide; and11 WHEREAS, he was a charismatic portrait of what the country embraces as Cajun,12 drawing in his audiences with personal anecdotes which made each performance seem less13 like a concert and more like a friendly back porch get-together on a sultry Louisiana14 evening; and 15 WHEREAS, Hadley delighted in sharing his passion for music with others,16 particularly kindling a spark of interest and appreciation in young people; and17 WHEREAS, the fire endures in the life of his granddaughter, Sarah Jayde Williams,18 SR NO. 80 SLS 13RS-1121 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 who continues to honor the Cajun tradition of music her grandfather held so dear; and1 WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Earline Shay Castille; his2 sons, Blake Castille and his wife Cheryl Larkin Castille, and Joey Castille; his daughter,3 Tayne Castille; his sister-in-law, Velma Manuel Castille; and his granddaughter, Sarah Jayde4 Williams; and5 WHEREAS, the death of Hadley J. Castille has left a tremendous void in his6 community, his memory will live on forever though his music and in the hearts and minds7 of all those who knew and loved him.8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana9 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Hadley J. Castille,10 does hereby record for posterity his accomplishments and contributions, and does hereby11 extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that he will forever bring his family,12 friends, community, and the state of Louisiana.13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to14 Earline Shay Castille.15 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Margaret M.
