Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2013 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 80 BY SENATOR GUILLORY A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Hadley J. Castille. WHEREAS, it is with sincere regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of Hadley J. Castille, age seventy-nine, of Opelousas, Louisiana, who passed away on October 25, 2012; and WHEREAS, Hadley was an award-winning musician and served as a cultural ambassador to the world for the Cajun community and Southwest Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Hadley, who created intoxicating blends of both the traditional and contemporary music, was one of the finest exponents of authentic south Louisiana Cajun fiddle music, captivating and electrifying audiences worldwide; and WHEREAS, he was a charismatic portrait of what the country embraces as Cajun, drawing in his audiences with personal anecdotes which made each performance seem less like a concert and more like a friendly back porch get-together on a sultry Louisiana evening; and WHEREAS, Hadley delighted in sharing his passion for music with others, particularly kindling a spark of interest and appreciation in young people; and WHEREAS, the fire endures in the life of his granddaughter, Sarah Jayde Williams, who continues to honor the Cajun tradition of music her grandfather held so dear; and WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Earline Shay Castille; his sons, Blake Castille and his wife Cheryl Larkin Castille, and Joey Castille; his daughter, Tayne Castille; his sister-in-law, Velma Manuel Castille; and his granddaughter, Sarah Jayde Williams; and WHEREAS, the death of Hadley J. Castille has left a tremendous void in his community, his memory will live on forever though his music and in the hearts and minds of all those who knew and loved him. SR NO. 80 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Hadley J. Castille, does hereby record for posterity his accomplishments and contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that he will forever bring his family, friends, community, and the state of Louisiana.
