[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] CONFERENCE COMMI TTEE REPORT DIGEST House Bill No. 1037 by Representative Hazel Keyword and oneliner of the instrument as it left the House CRIME: Amends criminal penalties for violations of the statute regarding Peeping Toms Report rejects Senate amendments which would have: 1. Adds to the definition of "Peeping Tom" the use of an unmanned aircraft to spy upon or invade the privacy of another person without his consent. 2. Provides for a definition of "unmanned aircraft" and "spying upon". Digest of the bill as proposed by the Conference Committee Present law provides that no person shall perform such acts as will make him a "Peeping Tom" on or about the premises of another, or go upon the premises of another for the purpose of becoming a "Peeping Tom". Present law provides that "Peeping Tom" means one who peeps through windows or doors, or other like places, situated on or about the premises of another for the purpose of spying upon or invading the privacy of persons spied upon without the consent of the persons spied upon, regardless of whether the "Peeping Tom" is upon the premises of the person being spied upon. Present law provides that whoever violates these provisions of present law shall be fined not more than $500, imprisoned for not more than six months, or both. Proposed law retains present law penalties but provides as follows for second and subsequent violations of the provisions of present law: (1)For a second conviction - A fine of not more than $750, imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. (2)For a third or subsequent conviction - A fine of not more than $1,000, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both. (Amends R.S. 14:284)
