HOUSE BILL NO. 1081
BY REPRESENTATIVE STUART BISHOP
AN ACT1
To authorize and provide for the transfer of certain state property; to authorize the transfer2
of certain state property in Lafayette; to provide for the property description; to3
provide for reservation of mineral rights; to provide terms and conditions; to provide4
an effective date; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. The president of the University of Louisiana System on behalf of the state7
of Louisiana, notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, is hereby8
authorized and empowered to convey, sell, transfer, assign, lease, or deliver any and all9
interest, excluding mineral rights, the state may have to the following described property to10
any person:11
That certain tract or parcel of land, together with all buildings and12
improvements and the component parts thereof, with all rights, ways, privileges and13
servitudes thereunto appertaining, situated in Section 102, Township 8 South, Range14
4 East of the Parish of Lafayette, State of Louisiana, bounded on the North by15
property of Nita Gilbert or assigns, East by U.S. Highway 167, South by property of16
Walter Domingue or assigns, and West by property of Howard Thibodeaux or17
assigns. The property is more particularly described on that certain plat of survey18
dated January 21, 1971, prepared by Fred L. Colomb, depicting the property of Ray19
Gilbert of 3.72 acres, more or less, attached to act recorded under Entry No. 56935620
of the records of the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court's Office.21
Section 2. The president of the University of Louisiana System, on behalf of the22
state of Louisiana, is hereby authorized to enter into such agreements, covenants, conditions,23
and stipulations and to execute such documents as are necessary to properly effectuate any24 ENROLLEDHB NO. 1081

conveyance, sale, transfer, assignment, or lease and delivery of title to the real property1
described in Section 1 of this Act, excluding, however, mineral rights, all of which as may2
be more specifically described in any such agreements entered into and documents executed3
by and between the president of the University of Louisiana System and any person, in4
exchange of consideration proportionate to the appraised value of the real property above5
described.6
Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not7
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature8
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If9
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become10
effective on the day following such approval.11
