[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Lopinto HB No. 1127 Abstract: Allows the medical exemption for the area below the top six inches of a vehicle windshield to apply for a patient diagnosed with a light sensitive porphyria. Present law prohibits that any exemption granted pursuant to present law from applying to the area below the top six inches of a motor vehicle windshield. Proposed law allows the medical exemption to apply to the area below the top six inches of a motor vehicle windshield if the optometrist or physician granting or requesting the medical exemption specifically authorizes it for a patient with a light sensitive porphyria. (Amends R.S. 32:361.2(D)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by House Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works to the original bill. 1. Specified the medical exemption is applicable to patients with a light sensitive porphyria.
