[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Jefferson HB No. 1128 Abstract: Authorizes employees of institutions of higher education who are veterans to attend Veterans' Day related events with pay. Present law requires each institution of higher education to designate a maximum of 14 legal holidays per calendar year to be observed by its employees. Proposed law requires the institution to allow employees who are veterans as defined by present law (R.S. 29:251.2) to attend events related to Veterans' Day with compensation for no more than four hours when such activities occur on a regularly scheduled workday. (Amends R.S. 1:55(F)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by House Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Judiciary to the original bill. 1. Changed the provision which allowed all employees to attend events related to Veteran's Day to allow only employees who are veterans to attend the events.
