Jefferson (HB 1128) Act No. 671
Existing law requires each institution of higher education to designate a maximum of 14
legal holidays per calendar year to be observed by its employees.
New law requires the institution to allow employees who are veterans as defined by existing
law (R.S. 29:251.2) to attend events related to Veterans' Day with compensation for no more
than four hours when such activities occur on a regularly scheduled workday.
Effective Aug. 1, 2014.
