[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Burrell HB No. 1139 Abstract: Provides for a reduced convenience fee for mobility impaired persons at public license tag agents. Proposed law provides that the convenience fee charged by public license tag agents shall not exceed $9 for those persons who are mobility impaired. Proposed law defines "mobility impaired person" as a person impaired by any of the following conditions: (1)Unable to walk 200 feet without stopping to rest. (2)Unable to walk without the assistance of another person, walker, cane, crutches, braces, prosthetic device, or wheelchair, including individuals who are blind or so visually impaired that the assistance of another person is necessary to walk. (3)Restricted by a lung disease to such an extent that the person's forced expiratory volume for one second is less than one liter, or the arterial oxygen tension is less than 60 mm/hg on room air at rest. (4)Uses portable oxygen. (5)A cardiac condition to the extent that the person's functional limitations are classified in severity as Class III or Class IV according to standards set by the American Heart Association. (6)A diagnosed disease or disorder, including a severe arthritic, neurological, or orthopedic impairment, which creates a severe mobility limitation. (Amends R.S. 47:532.1(C))
