Lorusso (HB 1149) Act No. 223
Existing law provides for the La. Property and Casualty Insurance Commission within the
La. Department of Insurance. Charges the commission with reviewing and examining the
availability and affordability of property and casualty insurance in the state. Specifies the
membership of the full commission and of its ad hoc committees.
New law additionally provides that a representative of the National Association of Mutual
Insurance Companies shall serve on the commission. Also provides that such representative
shall serve on the commission's automobile insurance ad hoc committee, homeowners ad hoc
committee, and workers' compensation committee.
Effective Aug. 1, 2014.
