Abstract: Provides relative to collaborative practice agreements between advanced practice
registered nurses and physicians; prohibits the La. State Board of Medical Examiners
from limiting the right of nurses and physicians to enter into such agreements.
Present law provides for duties and powers of the La. State Board of Medical Examiners (board).
Proposed law retains present law and adds a provision stipulating that nothing in present law
shall be construed to authorize the board to limit the right of a physician and an advanced
practice registered nurse to engage in a collaborative practice agreement as provided in present
law, R.S. 37:913.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
