AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 13:3881(A)(4)(c), to enact R.S. 13:3881(A)(4)(g), and to repeal2
R.S. 13:3881(A)(2)(e), relative to exemptions from seizure; to provide a general3
exemption from seizure for all firearms and firearm accessories not to exceed a4
certain value; to repeal the exemption of one firearm of a certain value necessary for5
the exercise of a trade, calling, or profession; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. R.S. 13:3881(A)(4)(c) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.8
13:3881(A)(4)(g) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 9
ยง3881.  General exemptions from seizure10
A. The following income or property of a debtor is exempt from seizure11
under any writ, mandate, or process whatsoever, except as otherwise herein12
provided:13

(c)  His arms and military accoutrements.17

(g) All firearms, arms and ammunition, and accessories thereto, not1
exceeding a total maximum value of two thousand five hundred dollars, which may2
be used for any purpose.3

Section 2.  R.S. 13:3881(A)(2)(e) is hereby repealed in its entirety.5
