[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Mack HB No. 155 Abstract: Provides for certain law enforcement officers to receive credit for years of service for purposes of receiving supplemental compensation. Present law requires every commissioned law enforcement officer employed on a full-time basis by a police agency of the state or its political subdivisions, other than DPS&C and the Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries, who provides police services to the general public to receive supplemental compensation in the amount of $500 per month to be paid by the state if the officer completed one year of service, was hired after March 31, 1986, and completed and passed a council-certified training program. Proposed law retains present law and further requires any P.O.S.T.-certified law enforcement officer employed on a full-time basis by DPS&C, Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries, division of probation and parole, or any retired state police officer who receives supplemental compensation under provisions of present law, to receive credit for their employment if they become employed with any other law enforcement agency for purpose of satisfying the one year of service requirement to receive supplemental compensation.
