 JDC to provide for a reentry division of court
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 13:5401(C)(5), relative to reentry courts; to authorize the creation of a reentry2
division of the Fifteenth Judicial District Court; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 13:5401(C)(5) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 5
§5401.  District courts; reentry courts; subject matter6

C. The following district courts may assign certain divisions of the court as8
a reentry division of court in accordance with the provisions of this Section:9

(5)  The Fifteenth Judicial District Court.11

Abstract: Authorizes the 15th JDC to create a reentry division of court.
Present law authorizes the 11th JDC, the 19th JDC, the 22nd JDC, and the Criminal District
Court for the parish of Orleans to create a reentry division which would be responsible for
developing a workforce development sentencing program with specific qualifications and
requirements.
Proposed law authorizes the 15th JDC to establish a reentry division of court.
