CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES: Adds substances to Schedule I of the Uniform Controlled
Dangerous Substances Law
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 40:964(Schedule I)(G), relative to the Uniform Controlled Dangerous2
Substances Law; to add certain substances to Schedule I of the Uniform Controlled3
Dangerous Substances Law; to create a miscellaneous Schedule I category for4
substances that have more than one pharmacological effect or cannot be classified5
under existing Schedule I categories; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 40:964(Schedule I)(G) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8
ยง964.  Composition of schedules9
Schedules I, II, III, IV, and V shall, unless and until added to pursuant to R.S.10
40:962, consist of the following drugs or other substances, by whatever official11
name, common or usual name, chemical name, or brand name designated:12

G. Miscellaneous.  Unless specifically excepted, or contained within a15
pharmaceutical product approved by the United States Federal Food and Drug16
Administration, or unless listed in another schedule, any material, compound,17
mixture, or preparation which contains any quantity of the following substances,18

whenever the existence of such salts, isomers, esters, or ethers and salts of isomers,1
esters, or ethers is possible within the specific chemical designation:2
(1)  Mitragynine3
(2)  7-Hydroxymitragynine4
(3)  Mitragynine pseudoindoxyl5

Present law provides for classification of controlled dangerous substances in Schedules I
through V.
Proposed law adds three substances to the list of Schedule I controlled dangerous substances
by creating a miscellaneous designation for substances which have more than one
pharmacological effect.
