Abstract: Specifies that the failure to obtain a current and valid motor vehicle inspection
certificate within one month from the expiration constitutes a secondary offense.
Present law provides the mere failure of the owner or operator of a motor vehicle required by
present law to be inspected to obtain a current and valid inspection certificate not be a violation if
the certificate has been expired less than one calendar month.
Proposed law provides the mere failure of an owner or operator of a motor vehicle required by
present law to be inspected to obtain a current and valid inspection certificate within one calendar
month of the inspection certificate expiration shall constitute a secondary offense and the driver
may be cited only if stopped for a moving violation.
