COURTS/MAGISTRATES:  Removes the mandatory retirement age for constables
AN ACT1
To repeal R.S. 13:2583(A)(2), relative to constables; to provide relative to qualifications; to2
remove the mandatory retirement age of constables; and to provide for related3
matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 13:2583(A)(2) is hereby repealed in its entirety.6

Abstract: Removes the mandatory retirement age for constables.
Present law provides that any person who qualifies to run for the office of constable after
2008 shall not have attained the age of 70 years by the date of qualification, and further
provides that any constable who attains 70 years of age while serving a term of office shall
be allowed to complete that term of office.
Proposed law repeals present law.
