                    Broadwater (HB 244)	Act No. 324
Existing law provides with respect to the authority of a postsecondary education management
board to grant leases of immovable property under its supervision and management.
New law provides that if property at a public postsecondary education institution is leased
to a nonprofit corporation or association for the purpose of holding a fundraising event, the
lease may authorize and provide for the auction and sale of firearms at the event.  Further
provides that any such lease shall include at a minimum the following conditions:
(1)The firearms to be auctioned are exhibited in a static display.
(2)Campus security is present at the event.
(3)The event shall be held indoors.
(4)The firearms to be auctioned are equipped with a safety lock or other safety feature
that renders the firearm nonoperational.
Existing law provides that carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon at a school-sponsored
function or in a firearm-free zone is unlawful.  Existing law provides for certain exceptions.
New law adds an event held pursuant to new law to list of exceptions.
Effective Aug. 1, 2014.
