Abstract: Provides for an additional fee of $5 to $10 to be collected in all criminal cases,
including traffic cases, in all courts in St. Bernard Parish to fund the operations of the
coroner's office.
Present law requires a fee of $5 to $10 to be collected in all criminal cases, including traffic
offenses in St. Martin Parish, from every defendant who is convicted after trial or who pleads
guilty or forfeits bond in addition to all other fines, costs, or forfeitures lawfully imposed to be
used solely to defray the operational costs of the coroner of the parish.
Proposed law retains present law and adds the requirement to impose and collect the fees in St.
Bernard Parish to defray the operational costs of the St. Bernard Parish coroner.
