ACT No. 50 Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE BILL NO. 308 BY REPRESENTATIVE SEABAUGH AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 14:108.1(E), relative to the crime of flight from an officer; to increase2 the possible term of imprisonment for the crime of aggravated flight from an officer; to3 provide for increased penalties when the crime results in serious bodily injury; to provide4 for a definition of "serious bodily injury"; and to provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 14:108.1(E) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง108.1. Flight from an officer; aggravated flight from an officer8 * * *9 E.(1) Whoever commits aggravated flight from an officer shall be imprisoned at10 hard labor for not more than two five years and may be fined not more than two thousand11 dollars.12 (2)(a) Whoever commits the crime of aggravated flight from an officer that13 results in serious bodily injury shall be imprisoned at hard labor for not more than ten years14 and may be fined not more than two thousand dollars. 15 (b) For purposes of this Section, "serious bodily injury" means bodily injury which16 involves unconsciousness, extreme physical pain or protracted and obvious disfigurement,17 or protracted loss or impairment of the function of a bodily member, organ, or mental18 faculty, or a substantial risk of death. 19 * * * SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATI VES PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA APPROVED:
