Present law requires the CEO of each public postsecondary education management board to annually report to the legislature every scholarship awarded by a board member for the preceding academic year. Proposed law retains present law and, applicable to students who enter a public postsecondary education institution for the first time during the Fall 2014 semester or thereafter, prohibits any member of such a board from awarding a scholarship by virtue of his board membership. Defines "scholarship" as a waiver of tuition or fees, a cash award, or any combination thereof. Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action. (Adds R.S. 17:1609)
