[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Richard HB No. 334 Abstract: Prohibits a public postsecondary education management board member from awarding scholarships by virtue of his board membership; applicable to students who enter college for the first time during the Fall 2014 semester or thereafter. Present law requires the CEO of each public postsecondary education management board to annually report to the legislature every scholarship awarded by a board member for the preceding academic year. Proposed law retains present law and, applicable to students who enter a public postsecondary education institution for the first time during the Fall 2014 semester or thereafter, prohibits any member of such a board from awarding a scholarship by virtue of his board membership. Defines "scholarship" as a waiver of tuition or fees, a cash award, or any combination thereof. Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action. (Adds R.S. 17:1609)
