Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE BILL NO. 337 BY REPRESENTATIVE THOMPSON EXPLOSIVES: Provides with respect to the regulation of explosives AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 40:1472.3(A)(4) and (E)(1)(q), relative to the regulation of explosives; to2 provide for the authority to inspect all facilities under the control of an explosives3 licensee; to require that an applicant for a state explosives license possess a valid4 federal explosives license; and to provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 40:1472.3(A)(4) and (E)(1)(q) are hereby enacted to read as follows:7 ยง1472.3. Present law provides for the licensing and regulation of any person or business acquiring, selling, possessing, storing, or using or handling explosives. Present law establishes qualifications and criteria for the issuance of licenses to handle explosives. Proposed law retains present law and authorizes the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to inspect all facilities under the control of an explosives licensee issued pursuant to present law. Proposed law adds the requirement that to be eligible to obtain a Louisiana-issued explosives license, the applicant must also possess a valid Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms license.
