[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Harrison HB No. 360 Abstract: With respect to appropriations to the office of elderly affairs for allocation to the voluntary parish councils on aging, increases both the total amount to be appropriated as well as allocations to individual parishes. Present law requires that certain monies appropriated to the office of elderly affairs be allocated to the voluntary parish councils on aging (parish) in the amount of $2.50 for each person age 60 and older or $37,500, whichever is greater. Proposed law changes present law by increasing the allocation to each parish from $2.50 for each person age 60 and older or $37,500, whichever is greater to $6.00 for each person age 60 and older or $100,000, whichever is greater. Present law limits the maximum amount allocated to any parish to $100,000. Proposed law increases the maximum amount allocated to any parish from $100,000 to $325,000. Present law requires a minimum annual appropriation of $2,776,800 to the office of elderly affairs for distribution to the parishes. Proposed law increases the minimum annual appropriation from $2,776,800 to $7,900,900. Effective July 1, 2014. (Amends R.S. 46:1606(A) and (B)(1))
