Havard	HB No. 386
Abstract: Allows the driver of a trailer to show only a valid inspection sticker when stopped by
a police officer or other officer authorized to inspect the trailer rather than having to be in
immediate possession of the title and registration.
Present law allows police officers to issue traffic citations for failing to comply with the
inspection requirements to drivers of trailers who do not have the title and registration on their
person.
Proposed law provides that in order to be in compliance with the inspection laws, an owner or
operator of a light trailer, utility trailer, boat trailer, or farm trailer need only provide the
inspecting officer with a valid inspection sticker, as opposed to the title and registration of the
trailer.
