AN ACT1
To amend and reenact Code of Criminal Procedure Article 814(A)(26) and (27), relative to2
responsive verdicts; to provide changes in responsive verdicts for theft and attempted3
theft; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. Code of Criminal Procedure Article 814(A)(26) and (27) are hereby6
amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7
Art. 814.  Responsive verdicts; in particular8
A. The only responsive verdicts which may be rendered when the indictment9
charges the following offenses are:10

26.  Theft:12
Guilty of theft of property having a value of one thousand five hundred13
dollars or more.14
Guilty of theft of property having a value of five hundred dollars or more, but15
less than one thousand five hundred dollars.16
Guilty of theft of property having a value of three hundred dollars or more,17
but less than five hundred dollars.18
Guilty of theft of property having a value of less than 	three five hundred19
dollars.20
Guilty of attempted theft of property having a value of one thousand five21
hundred dollars or more.22
Guilty of attempted theft of property having a value of three five hundred23

Guilty of attempted theft of property having a value of less than three five1
hundred dollars.2
Guilty of unauthorized use of movables having a value in excess of five3
hundred dollars.4
Guilty of unauthorized use of movables having a value of five hundred5
dollars or less.6
