AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 9:202(1), relative to authority to perform a marriage ceremony;2
to require a religious official to have attained the age of majority before being3
authorized to perform a marriage ceremony; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 9:202(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6
ยง202. Authority to perform marriage ceremony7
A marriage ceremony may be performed by:8
(1) A priest, minister, rabbi, clerk of the Religious Society of Friends, or any9
clergyman of any religious sect, who has attained the age of majority and is10
authorized by the authorities of his religion to perform marriages, and who is11
registered to perform marriages;12
