Abstract: Requires a religious official to have attained the age of majority to have legal
authority to perform a marriage ceremony.
Present law authorizes certain religious officials to perform marriage ceremonies when
authorized by the authorities of his religion and when he is registered to perform marriages.
Proposed law retains present law and requires the religious official to have attained the age of
majority.
