CLERKS OF COURT: Provides relative to processing fees associated with  reporting
requirements for clerks of court
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 13:4688(B), relative to processing fees for clerks of court; to2
remove requirements relative to when certain processing fees are to be paid in a suit;3
and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 13:4688(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง4688.  Actions for offenses and quasi offenses; reporting7

B. A processing fee of five dollars for the clerk of court and five dollars for9
the office of the judicial administrator shall be taxed as costs of court in each suit on10
which the information required by supreme court rule is submitted by the clerk of11
court. The fees shall be paid only at the conclusion or dismissal of the suit and The12
court costs shall not exceed a total of ten dollars for each suit.13

Abstract: Removes requirements relative to when processing fees are to be paid.
Present law requires that a processing fee of $5 for the clerk of court and $5 for the office
of judicial administrator for the supreme court, not to exceed $10 in each suit, be taxed as
costs of court in each suit for any information that is required by supreme court rule to be

Proposed law retains present law.
Present law requires that the court cost shall be paid only at the conclusion or dismissal of
the suit.
Proposed law deletes this provision of present law.
