MTR VEHICLE/EMERGENCY:  Allows all fire department vehicles to be equipped with
blue colored electric lights
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 32:318(H), relative to audible and visual signals on certain2
vehicles; to allow all publicly owned fire department vehicles to be equipped with3
blue colored electric lights; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 32:318(H) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง318.  Audible and visual signals on certain vehicles7

H. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, all publicly owned9
fire trucks with fire apparatuses fire department vehicles and publicly owned10
ambulances may use blue colored electric lights.  The lights shall be on the rear of11
the vehicle and shall not exceed fifty percent of the visual lights. For the purposes12
of this Section, "fire truck" shall have the same meaning as provided for in R.S.13

Abstract: Allows all publicly owned fire department vehicles to use blue colored electric
lights.
Present law provides that all publicly owned fire trucks with fire apparatuses and publicly
owned ambulances may used blue colored electric lights.
Proposed law expands the use of blue colored electric lights to all publicly owned fire
department vehicles rather than just fire trucks with fire apparatuses.
(Amends R.S. 32:318(H))
