Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE BILL NO. 565 BY REPRESENTATIVE SEABAUGH MTR VEHICLE/VIOLATIONS: Provides for the disposition of court costs and administrative fees for certain citations issued for exceeding the posted speed limit AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 32:266(B)(1), relative to the enforcement of speed limit on2 certain highways; to provide for the disposition of fines for citations, penalties, court3 costs exceeding twenty-five dollars, or other administrative fees collected; and to4 provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 32:266(B)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7 ยง266. Enforcement of speed limit on certain highways; disposition of fines8 * * *9 B.(1) After deposit to the Bond Security and Redemption Fund as required10 under the provisions of Article VII, Section 9(B) of the Constitution of Louisiana,11 all fines, or penalties, court costs exceeding twenty-five dollars, and other12 administrative fees collected by or on behalf of a local law enforcement body for13 citations issued for exceeding the posted speed limit by less than ten miles per hour14 on an interstate highway, shall be forwarded to the state treasurer and credited to a15 special fund which is hereby created in the state treasury and designated as the16 "Louisiana Highway Safety Fund".17 * * *18 HLS 14RS-814 ORIGINAL HB NO. 565 Page 2 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. Present law provides that fines and penalties collected from citations issued for exceeding the posted speed limit by less than 10 mph on interstate highways be forwarded to the state treasurer and credited to the "Louisiana Highway Safety Fund". Proposed law retains present law and adds court costs exceeding $25 and other administrative fees collected for citations issued in accordance with present law to the fees and penalties that must be forwarded to the state treasurer and credited to the "Louisiana Highway Safety Fund".
