PUBLIC BUILDINGS/GROUNDS: Provides relative to the naming of the Tangipahoa
Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau building
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 33:4712.16, relative to Tangipahoa Parish; to authorize the governing2
authority of the parish of Tangipahoa to name a building in honor of a living person;3
and to provide for related matters.4
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published5
as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of6
Louisiana.7
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8
Section 1.  R.S. 33:4712.16 is hereby enacted to read as follows:9
ยง4712.16.  Naming of the Tangipahoa Parish tourist information center10
The governing authority of the parish of Tangipahoa may name the tourist11
information center building owned by the Tangipahoa Parish Convention and12
Visitors Bureau in honor of Betty Stewart.13

Present law provides that no public building, public bridge, public park, public fish or game
preserve, or public wildlife refuge owned by the state or by any political subdivision of the
state or by any institution receiving its support in whole or in part from the state shall be
named in honor of any living person, except as authorized or provided by law.
Proposed law retains present law and authorizes the governing authority of the parish of
Tangipahoa to name the tourist information center building owned by the Tangipahoa Parish
Convention and Visitors Bureau in honor of Betty Stewart.
