Abstract: Authorizes rather than prohibits the preference for Louisiana products when
purchasing fire fighting or rescue equipment.
Present law requires procurement officers and purchasing agents who procure or purchase certain
products such as meat, seafood, produce, paper and paper products to procure or purchase
Louisiana products which are manufactured, processed, produced, or assembled in this state
under certain circumstances.
Present law provides that the preference for the purchase of Louisiana products shall not apply to
the procurement or purchase of fire fighting or rescue equipment.
Proposed law changes the present law prohibition of the applicability of the preference for the
purchase of Louisiana products relative to the purchase of fire fighting or rescue equipment to
authorizing the provisions of present law to apply to such purchases.
