CAMPAIGN FINANCE DISCLOS: Authorizes the supervisory committee or its staff to
solicit information from a person required to file campaign finance reports or the
report preparer
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 18:1511.2(C), relative to the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act; to provide2
relative to the authority of the supervisory committee and its staff; to provide for3
certain inquiries; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 18:1511.2(C) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง1511.2. Supervisory Committee; rule-making authority; advisory opinions	;7

C. The supervisory committee or the staff of the supervisory committee may10
request clarification or additional information from a candidate, political committee,11
other person required to file reports pursuant to this Chapter, campaign treasurer, or12
the preparer of any report required to be filed pursuant to this Chapter regarding any13

Abstract: Authorizes the supervisory committee or its staff to request clarification or
additional information from specified persons regarding any information disclosed
or required to be disclosed on a report filed pursuant to the Campaign Finance
Disclosure Act.
Present law (Campaign Finance Disclosure Act) requires political committees, candidates,
and other persons to file reports disclosing contributions, expenditures, receipts,
disbursements, and other specified information.
Present law provides that the Supervisory Committee on Campaign Finance Disclosure
(supervisory committee), constituted of the members of the Board of Ethics, shall administer
and enforce the provisions of the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act. Provides procedures
for enforcement of violations, including but not limited to the conduct of investigations and
the authority to subpoena witnesses and compel the production of specified records.
Proposed law retains present law but additionally authorizes the supervisory committee or
its staff to request clarification or additional information from a candidate, political
committee, other persons required to file reports pursuant to present law, campaign treasurer,
or the preparer of any report required to be filed pursuant to present law regarding any
information disclosed on a report or required to be disclosed on a report by 	present law.
