Abstract: Provides for the composition of the Workers' Compensation Advisory Council.
Present law creates the Workers' Compensation Advisory Council, which is made up of 17
members appointed by the governor and who serve at the pleasure of the governor.
Present law provides that each appointment must be approved by the Senate.
Present law specifies from which industries and associations the members shall be chosen.
Present law requires that the council meet and make recommendations to the governor and
legislature on the implementation of workers' compensation laws.
Proposed law requires that the members of the council be domiciled in La.
Proposed law requires that at least three members be chosen from each of the five La. Public
Service Commission districts in order to obtain geographic diversity.
Proposed law provides that the changes in the makeup of the council shall occur by attrition, with
the governor appointing new members as required in proposed law.
