Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE BILL NO. 786 BY REPRESENTATIVE NANCY LANDRY AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 17:52.2, relative to the Lafayette Parish School Board; to provide for the2 election of members to the school board; to provide for the terms of members of the3 school board; to provide for effectiveness; and to provide for related matters.4 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published5 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of6 Louisiana.7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8 Section 1. R.S. 17:52.2 is hereby enacted to read as follows:9 ยง52.2. Lafayette Parish School Board; election of members; terms10 Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 17:52 and any other provision of law11 to the contrary, members of the Lafayette Parish School Board shall be elected at the12 gubernatorial elections. The members of the school board shall serve four-year13 terms beginning January first following their election.14 Section 2. To facilitate moving the election of members of the Lafayette Parish15 School Board from the congressional elections to the gubernatorial elections, the members16 of the Lafayette Parish School Board elected at the congressional elections in 2014 shall17 serve five-year terms.
