MTR VEHICLE/BUSES-SCHOOL:  Provides relative to the model age and use of school
buses
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 17:158.2(D) and (E), relative to the model age of school buses; to prohibit2
school buses used to transport students from being more than twenty-five years old;3
to require that activity or backup school buses be fifteen or less model years old; to4
prohibit school buses older than fifteen model years from being used more than sixty5
consecutive days at a time; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 17:158.2(D) and (E) are hereby enacted to read as follows:8
ยง158.2.  Purchase of school buses; resale to bus operators9

D. Any school bus used to transport students, including an activity or backup11
bus, shall not be more than twenty-five years old. Any school bus used as an activity12
or backup bus, at the time it is acquired by the owner and placed in service, shall be13
fifteen or less model years old. The number of years shall be reckoned from the date14
of introduction of the model year.15
E. Any school bus used as an activity or backup bus, that is older than fifteen16

buses used to transport students may not be more than 25 model years old. Activity
or backup school buses must be 15 or less model years old when acquired, and
activity or backup buses which are older than 15 model years are prohibited from
