MTR VEHICLE/BUSES-SCHOOL:  Provides relative to the model age and use of school
buses
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 17:158.2(D) and (E), relative to the model age of school buses; to prohibit2
school buses used to transport students from being more than twenty-five years old;3
to require that activity or backup school buses be fifteen or fewer model years old;4
to prohibit school buses older than fifteen model years from being used more than5
sixty consecutive school days at a time; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 17:158.2(D) and (E) are hereby enacted to read as follows:8
ยง158.2.  Purchase of school buses; resale to bus operators9

D. Any school bus used to transport students, including an activity or backup11
bus, shall not be more than twenty-five years old. Any school bus used as an activity12
or backup bus, at the time it is acquired by the owner and placed in service, shall be13
fifteen or fewer model years old. The number of years shall be reckoned from the14
date of introduction of the model year.15
E. Any school bus used as an activity or backup bus that is older than fifteen16
