SCHOOLS/DISTRICTS: Requires that the Recovery School District provide advance
notice to contractors when decisions have been made to cancel contracts
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 17:1990(B)(1)(e), relative to the Recovery School District; to2
provide for notice to contractors prior to canceling constracts; and to provide for3
related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 17:1990(B)(1)(e) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as6
follows: 7

(e) The school district shall not be required to utilize any selection board,13
including but not limited to the Louisiana Architects Selection Board, the Louisiana14
Engineers Selection Board, or the Louisiana Landscape Architects Selection Board15
when contracting for any public work or professional service, or when contracting16
for any other service. However, the school district shall comply with all other17
applicable provisions of Title 38 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950.18
Additionally, the school district shall give notice to a contractor ten days prior to19

Present law provides that the Recovery School District is not required to use any selection
board when contracting for any public work or professional service, or when contracting for
any other service.
Present law provides that the school district shall comply with all other applicable provisions
of present law providing for public contracts.
Proposed law requires the school district to give notice to a contractor 10 days prior to
canceling any contract provided for in present law.
