Regular Session, 2014 HOUSE BILL NO. 898 BY REPRESENTATIVE GAINES PORTS/SOUTH LOUISIANA: Increases the membership of the Port of South Louisiana Commission AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 34:2471(A)(introductory paragraph), (6), (7), and (8) and to2 enact R.S. 34:2471(A)(9), relative to the Port of South Louisiana Commission; to3 increase the membership on the commission; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 34:2471(A)(introductory paragraph), (6), (7), and (8) are hereby6 amended and reenacted and R.S. 34:2471(A)(9) is hereby enacted to read as follows:7 ยง2471. Creation; membership8 A. There is hereby created the Port of South Louisiana, as a political9 subdivision of the state, with jurisdictional authority encompassing the geographical10 boundaries of the parishes of St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James. (7) (8) Each appointment shall be submitted to the Senate for confirmation.1 (8) (9) The terms of all commissioners shall be concurrent with that of the2 governor. Removed a provision that increased the membership of the Port of South Louisiana Commission from seven to eleven by adding three members appointed by the governor and one at-large member. 2. Increased the number of members of the Port of South Louisiana Commission from seven to nine by providing two additional members appointed by the governor at his sole discretion. 3. Made technical changes.
