                    St. Germain (HB 902) 	Act No. 96
New law provides for the design and creation of the "JDRF" special prestige license plate
provided there is a minimum of 1,000 applicants.
New law provides the license plate shall be issued, upon application, to any citizen of La. in
the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate.
New law provides for the collection of a $30 royalty fee, as well as a handling fee of $3.50
for each plate to be retained by the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to offset a portion
of administrative costs.
New law provides that monies collected by the department and forwarded to the La. Chapter
of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or its successor organization, be used to
improve the lives of all people affected by Type 1 Diabetes by accelerating progress on the
most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing Type 1 Diabetes.
New law requires the secretary to promulgate rules and regulations to implement the
provisions provided in new law.
Effective August 1, 2014.
