JUDGES: Provides for extending the collection of increased filing fees by the civil district
court judges
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 13:996.67(D), relative to the Civil District Court for the parish2
of Orleans; to extend the termination date relative to the collection of costs for the3
judicial building fund for the Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans; and to4
provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 13:996.67(D) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:7
ยง996.67.  Judicial building fund8

D. If public bids are not let for the construction of a new facility as provided10
in this Section by August 15, 2014 2015, then the authority provided in this Section11
to levy the additional costs and charges shall terminate and be null and void.12
Thereafter, no costs or charges authorized in this Section shall be imposed or13
collected.  Should If the authority to levy such costs and charges terminate14
terminates as set forth herein, all funds collected and deposited in the separate15
account as provided in this Section shall be used solely for capital improvements to16
the facility then housing the Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans.17 HLS 14RS-1457	ENGROSSED

Abstract: Extends the time to let public bids for construction of the Civil District Court for
the parish of Orleans from Aug. 15, 2014, to Aug. 15, 2015.
Present law terminates the authority to levy additional costs and charges if public bids are
not let for the construction of the new facility (Civil District Court for the parish of Orleans)
by Aug. 15, 2014.
Present law provides for all funds collected and deposited in the separate account to be used
solely for capital improvements to the facility currently housing the Civil District Court for
the parish of Orleans.
Proposed law retains present law but extends the termination date from Aug. 15, 2014, to
Aug. 15, 2015.
