MUNICIPALITIES: Requires governing authorities of parishes and municipalities to make
meeting agendas, minutes, and votes available on the Internet
AN ACT1
To enact Part XVI of Chapter 2 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to be2
comprised of R.S. 33:1420.21, relative to municipal and parish governing authorities;3
to provide relative to the posting of meeting agendas, minutes, and votes on the4
Internet; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. Part XVI of Chapter 2 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of7
1950, to be comprised of R.S. 33:1420.21 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8
PART 16.  MEETINGS OF PARISH AND MUNICIPAL GOVERNING BODIES9
ยง1420.21.  Parish and municipal governing bodies; posting of documents online10
A. The governing authority of any parish or municipality that has established11
an official website for such parish or municipality shall post online, at least12
twenty-four hours prior to any meeting, the agenda of the meeting of the governing13
authority.14
B. Within a week following the adjournment of any meeting, the governing15
authority shall post online the minutes of the meeting. The minutes shall include the16
following items:17
(1)  Each motion that was made, who made it, and whether it passed.18
(2)  The vote of each member of the governing body on each agenda item.19
(3)  A link to  all ordinances and resolutions that appeared on the agenda.20 HLS 14RS-656	ORIGINAL

Abstract: Requires the governing authority of all parishes and municipalities that have
established an official website to certain information online.
Proposed law requires the governing authority of parishes and municipalities that have
established an official website for their respective parish or municipality to post online, at
least 24 hours prior to any meeting, the agenda of the meeting of the governing body.
Provides that within a week following the adjournment of any meeting, the governing
authority shall post online the minutes of the meeting. The minutes shall include each motion
that was made, who made it, whether the motion passed, the vote of each member of the
governing body on each agenda item, and a link to all ordinances and resolutions that
appeared on the agenda.
