MOTOR VEHICLES: Provides for acts of donation of a motor vehicle without an authentic
act
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 32:705.1, relative to donations of motor vehicles; to provide for donations of2
motor vehicles by an act under private signature duly acknowledged; and to provide3
for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 32:705.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows:6
ยง705.1. Acts of Donation; titled motor vehicles7
A donation of a titled movable by manual gift as provided by Louisiana Civil8
Code Article 1543 and documented accordingly by written act of the donor and9
donee duly acknowledged in any manner provided by law, may be submitted to the10
office of motor vehicles in connection with a motor vehicle transaction by a11
Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission licensee. The office of motor vehicles shall12
promulgaterules and regulations for implementation of the provisions of this Section.13

present law and documented by written act of the donor and donee duly acknowledged may
be submitted to the office of motor vehicles in connection with a motor vehicle transaction
by a La. Motor Vehicle Commission licensee.

1. Deleted a provision that authorized the transfer of a titled vehicle by an act under
