New law provides for the design and creation of the La. Coalition Against Domestic
Violence special prestige license plate provided there is a minimum of 1,000 applicants.
New law provides the license plate shall be issued, upon application, to any citizen of La. in
the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate.
New law provides for the collection of a $30 royalty fee, as well as a handling fee of $3.50
for each plate to be retained by the DPS&C to offset a portion of administrative costs.
New law provides that monies collected by the department and forwarded to the La.
Coalition Against Domestic Violence, or its successor organization, are to be used to
eliminate domestic violence through public education, systems change, social change, and
public policy.
New law requires the secretary to adopt rules and regulations to implement new law.
Effective Aug. 1, 2014.
