COMMENDATIONS: Commends Dr. Gerard LeBlanc and Thomas Jefferson High School
for Advanced Studies in Gretna for receiving the top ranking among high schools
within the state
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Dr. Gerard LeBlanc and Thomas Jefferson High School for Advanced Studies2
in Gretna for receiving the top ranking among high schools within the state of3
Louisiana.4
WHEREAS, according to the United States News and World Report, Thomas5
Jefferson High School for Advanced Studies has achieved the number one ranking for high6
schools within the state of Louisiana; and7
WHEREAS, the United States News and World Report reviewed over thirty-one8
thousand United States schools and eighty-five Louisiana schools made the rankings; and9
WHEREAS, Thomas Jefferson High School for Advanced Studies is one of thirteen10
high schools in the Jefferson Parish Public School System and has a student body of over11
four hundred students; and12
WHEREAS, Thomas Jefferson High School for Advanced Studies is committed to13
instilling excellence in its students by providing them the opportunity to take Advanced14
Placement course work and exams; and15
WHEREAS, the Advanced Placement rate at Thomas Jefferson High School for16
Advanced Studies is fifty-eight percent; and17
WHEREAS, Dr. Gerard LeBlanc, principal of Thomas Jefferson High School for18
Advanced Studies, merits a special measure of commendation for his energy and talents to19

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby1
commend Thomas Jefferson High School for Advanced Studies and principal, Dr. Gerard2
LeBlanc, for receiving the top ranking among high schools within the state of Louisiana.3
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted4
to Dr. Gerard LeBlanc, principal of Thomas Jefferson High School for Advanced Studies.5
