BY REPRESENTATIVES BERTHELOT, LAMBERT, PRICE, AND SCHEXNAYDER
AND SENATOR AMEDEE
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Mr. Chester Diez for forty years of service to the
Republican Party
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Chester J. Diez, Jr., for his dedicated service to the Republican Party and its2
principles and values and for his contributions towards the betterment of Ascension3
Parish.4
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and enthusiasm that the Legislature of Louisiana5
recognizes the accomplishments of one of Louisiana's respected and admired sons; and6
WHEREAS, born August 30, 1939, Chester J. Diez, Jr., is believed to be the first7
Republican candidate to run for the state senate from Ascension Parish; and8
WHEREAS, Mr. Diez is a devoted father to his nine children, and grandfather to his9
twenty-one grandchildren, almost all registered as affiliated with the Republican Party; and10
WHEREAS, Mr. Diez founded numerous successful businesses including Southwest11
Computer Bureau, Campaign Opinions and Research, Industrial Support Systems, Inc.,12
C. Diez Rentals, TMC Contractors, and Acadian Waste Services; and13
WHEREAS, for many years, Mr. Diez has been active in Ascension Parish,14
supporting several community endeavors including the Ascension Fund, the Ascension15
Economic Development Corporation, and the Ascension Little Theater; and16
WHEREAS, Mr. Diez became a Republican in 1972 when most Louisianians were17
registered as affiliated with the Democratic Party, and actively and personally sought to18
increase the membership in the Republican Party, including his efforts in sponsoring and19
funding the very successful " Switch in 96" voter registration drive; and20 HLS 14RS-4367	ORIGINAL

WHEREAS, Mr. Diez has devoted his adult life to promoting the Republican Party's1
principles and values of limited government, family values, and a strong national defense;2
and3
WHEREAS, Mr. Diez merits a special measure of commendation for his unwavering4
dedication to the Republican Party and to his community in Ascension Parish.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby6
commend Chester J. Diez, Jr., of Ascension Parish; does hereby recognize and record for7
posterity his dedicated service to the Republican Party and its principles and values; does8
hereby extend enduring gratitude for his vital contributions towards the betterment of9
Ascension Parish; and does hereby wish him continued success and happiness in the years10
to come.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted12
to Chester J. Diez, Jr.13
