HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 160
BY REPRESENTATIVES BERTHELOT, LAMBERT, PRICE, AND SCHEXNAYDER
AND SENATORS AMEDEE AND BROWN
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Chester J. Diez, Jr., for his dedicated service to the Republican Party and its
principles and values and for his contributions towards the betterment of Ascension
Parish.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and enthusiasm that the Legislature of Louisiana
recognizes the accomplishments of one of Louisiana's respected and admired sons; and
WHEREAS, born August 30, 1939, Chester J. Diez, Jr., is believed to be the first
Republican candidate to run for the state senate from Ascension Parish; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Diez is a devoted father to his nine children, and grandfather to his
twenty-one grandchildren, almost all registered as affiliated with the Republican Party; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Diez founded numerous successful businesses including Southwest
Computer Bureau, Campaign Opinions and Research, Industrial Support Systems, Inc.,
C. Diez Rentals, TMC Contractors, and Acadian Waste Services; and
WHEREAS, for many years, Mr. Diez has been active in Ascension Parish,
supporting several community endeavors including the Ascension Fund, the Ascension
Economic Development Corporation, and the Ascension Little Theater; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Diez became a Republican in 1972 when most Louisianians were
registered as affiliated with the Democratic Party, and actively and personally sought to
increase the membership in the Republican Party, including his efforts in sponsoring and
funding the very successful " Switch in 96" voter registration drive; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Diez has devoted his adult life to promoting the Republican Party's
principles and values of limited government, family values, and a strong national defense;

WHEREAS, Mr. Diez merits a special measure of commendation for his unwavering
dedication to the Republican Party and to his community in Ascension Parish.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Chester J. Diez, Jr., of Ascension Parish; does hereby recognize and record for
posterity his dedicated service to the Republican Party and its principles and values; does
hereby extend enduring gratitude for his vital contributions towards the betterment of
Ascension Parish; and does hereby wish him continued success and happiness in the years
to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Chester J. Diez, Jr.
