HIGHER EDUCATION: Commends the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions' football
team upon winning the Southland Conference championship
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend and congratulate the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions' football team2
for an outstanding season, garnering its first conference championship since 1961.3
WHEREAS, the coaches and players of the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions'4
football team are to be commended for a spectacular winning season, for bringing home their5
first conference title since 1961, and for their overall finish as No. 6 in the Sports Network6
and Football Championship Subdivision coaches' polls; and7
WHEREAS, the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions' team produced an 11-38
season, winning its first Southland Conference football title and its first berth in the NCAA9
Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, and hosted two playoff games at home in10
Strawberry Stadium in Hammond; and11
WHEREAS, hearty congratulations are extended to head coach Ron Roberts along12
with his staff, associate head coach, E. K. Franks, and assistant coaches, Pete Golding,13
Brandon Lacy, Travis Mikel, Sean O'Sullivan, Chet Pobolish, Karl Scott, Greg Stevens,14
Wesley Satterfield, and Patrick Toney; and15
WHEREAS, Coach Roberts deserves special recognition on being named the 201316
College Football Coach of the Year by the Southland Conference, the Louisiana Sports17
Writers Association, and American Football Coaches Association Region 5; and18
WHEREAS, the majority of this winning team and their coaches will be returning19
for the 2014 season and are looking forward to many more sessions under the sun during the20
upcoming spring practice and all await the elation of that deafening roar of "Go Lions".21 HLS 14RS-4848 ORIGINAL

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby1
commend and congratulate the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions' football team,2
coaches, and staff upon an outstanding season and the team's first conference championship3
since 1961 and does hereby extend best wishes to everyone involved with this exceptional4
football program as they celebrate a terrific season and prepare for continued success in the5
future.6
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to7
Coach Ron Roberts.8
