HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 185
BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON AND SENATOR WALSWORTH
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the Haynesville High School Golden Tornado boys' track team upon winning
the Class 1A outdoor state championship.
WHEREAS, the Haynesville High School track team completed a sensational season
by holding off White Castle, Southern Lab, and Vermilion Catholic; and
WHEREAS, the Golden Tornado claimed the 4x100-meter relay title with the team
of Damarcian McCutchen, James Jackson, Cavontae Critton, and Felix Evans with a time
of 42.82 seconds; and
WHEREAS, McCutchen finished fourth in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash
and Cutter Nelson finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles to help the team earn sixty-three
points; and
WHEREAS, Cavontae Critton and James Jackson finished second and fifth,
respectively, in the long jump and Delandre Kingsby finished first in the high jump; and
WHEREAS, Cutter Nelson finished sixth in the 300 meter hurdles and third in the
110 meter hurdles, Keandre Harris finished second in the javelin, Tyus Early finished fourth
in the shot put, and Kendrick Jackson finished third in the discus; and
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the meet, and each of these great competitors deserves recognition for his vital
contribution to the winning effort; and
WHEREAS, the coaches and staff instilled an ethic of winning and demonstrated the
kind of leadership and motivational skills needed to produce winners both on and off the
track; and
WHEREAS, the remarkable talents and determination of each member of the team
provided the state of Louisiana with outstanding track competition while each young man
maintained the highest level of sportsmanship and displayed great character; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 185

WHEREAS, the outstanding feats of the team members and coaches of the
Haynesville boys' track and field team merit a sincere measure of commendation for the
pride and honor they have brought to their school and families, the state of Louisiana, and
the Haynesville community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Haynesville High School boys' track team upon its memorable and historic
victory in the 2014 State Championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players,
coaches, and everyone involved with this fine athletic program as they celebrate their
exceptional achievements and prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the coach of the Haynesville High School track team.
