CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Sundae Lynette Ratcliff

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Sundae Lynette Ratcliff2
Tanner.3
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4
Legislature of Louisiana learned of the tragic death of Sundae Lynette Ratcliff Tanner on5
May 17, 2014, at the age of fifty-one; and6
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tanner was born on February 19, 1963, in Shreveport, Louisiana,7
to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ratcliff; and8
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tanner was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School, and9
received her degree from Northeast Louisiana University in 1985; and10
WHEREAS, as a teacher, Mrs. Tanner began her career in 1998 at Beekman Junior11
High School in Bastrop, continued her career at Swartz Elementary School and Ouachita12
Junior High School, and returned to where she began her career at what has now become13
Beekman Charter School; and14
WHEREAS, during her years as a masterful teacher, Mrs. Tanner taught physical15
education, coached girls basketball, and taught grades three, four, and six where she inspired16
hundreds of students to do their very best and to motivate each other to do their best; and17
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Ratcliff, and18
is survived by her husband Roger Tanner of twenty-eight years; her daughter, Morgan19
Tanner, who is a student at Louisiana Tech University; her mother, Dru Ratcliff; her sister,20 HLS 14RS-5531	ORIGINAL

Brandae Miller and husband Connell; her nephew Cade, and her mother-in-law and father-1
in-law, Travis and Elsie Tanner.2
WHEREAS, with the death of Mrs. Tanner, Louisiana has lost one of its finest3
citizens who was admired by all whose lives she touched and is greatly missed; and4
WHEREAS, although the death of Sundae Tanner has left a tremendous void in her5
community, her memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and6
loved her, and who remember her outgoing personality and beautiful smile.7
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby8
express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Sundae Lynette Ratcliff Tanner,9
does hereby recognize and record for posterity her outstanding accomplishments and10
singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor11
that this wonderful lady will forever bring to her family, friends, community, and state.12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted13
to the family of Sundae Lynette Ratcliff Tanner.14
